Blue Cow

I am placing my license in Blue Cow, which is the companies referral department for agents. I will have my license active but will be referring my clients and friends to an other agent for the time being. I have taken a position with the City of Albuquerque and until I know the hours and how my schedule will be working, I want to have a way to have my business watched and cared for by someone I trust.

Check scams coming in state

If you receive an unsolicited check, you would be advised to not deposit the check and to hold onto it. Or better yet forward it to the State's office of the Attorney General.

The way the scam works is a bogus check is sent and there is a request to send some amount back to the sender.

You could be liable for the full amount of the check so best beware.

Used car market and unintended consequences

Cash for clunkers may be over as a program but the effects will be with us for quite a while. Having been looking for a car for my daughter recently, I found that reasonably priced used cars are very rare and that $6000 seems to be the starting price.

While chasing around looking for a used vehicle, I also noticed how many small lots are now vacant. These small business people closed their doors due to lack of inventory and financing problems.

Dave Ramsey talks about getting a used car for $4000 but those days are past.

Time share scam

New Mexico's Attorney General's office has issued an allert about a scam involving time shares.

Owners of time shares are contacted about selling their interest. The company is called Market Value Properties. They arrange a "sale" and set up the transfer with Diamond International Escrow. Both companies are fraudulent.

They ask for a series of fees and once the seller has paid the fees all contact ends.

People who are contacted without initiating the contact should be very wary and not send money until thoroughly checking out the company.

The Attorney General's office asks if you have been contacted to reoprt it to the Attorney General's office, the Federal Trade Commission and the U.S. Secret Service.
