Lowest Rates EVER! The 30-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged 4.42% for the week ended Thursday, down slightly from the prior week's 4.44% average and 5.12% a year ago. The average for 15-year fixed was 3.9%, down from 3.92% the previous week and 4.56% a year earlier. The 30- and 15-year fixed are at their lowest points since Freddie began tracking such rates, in 1971 and 1991, respectively.
